A Hope Center

Breaking out of Bricks and Mortar

Subhead: A Hope Center Goes Mobile!

Fort Wayne, Indiana: A Hope Center will be closing the doors to the Illinois Road location for a final time on September 22nd, and will be operating a mobile medical unit that will have the ability to perform free pregnancy and STD testing, limited ultrasounds and pregnancy options counseling. A Hope Center desires to reach more clients by removing transportation and other barriers by going to the client instead of the client coming to them. They will be collaborating with Heartline Pregnancy Center to provide the ICU mobile medical services every Monday and Tuesday beginning October 9th. A Hope Center will us their website and social media to let clients know where the mobile unit will be parked on those days.

At the 2017 Global Leadership Summit, Bryan Stevenson, Founder and Executive Director of Equal Justice Initiative, stated “there is power in proximity and the answers come when we get in proximity of the problem.” A Hope Center is doing just that with the launch of its Mobile Medical Unit. Fort Wayne has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the state of Indiana and the neighborhood that is affected the most is in zip code 46806. A Hope Center is getting in proximity of this travesty by bringing A Hope Center’s services to them.

Executive Director of A Hope Center, Jo Faulkner, stated “We are breaking out of our bricks and mortar to serve the women and families of Fort Wayne. A Hope Center has been in Fort Wayne for more than 30 years, doing incredible work, but with the infant mortality rate so high we needed to come up with a new way to better serve the community.” A Hope Center works together with organizations such as Brightpoint, Allen County Board of Health, Healthier Moms and Babies, Fetal and Infant Mortality Committee, Prenatal and Infant Care Network and other medical facilities desiring to improve the infant mortality rate.
